Reception for the Artists: August 22nd, 2014 6- 9 pm

David Burke and Clint Imboden are artists who both engage in a high amount of focus on process and materials. Burke paints in a controlled chaos manner. He takes colorful inks and manages to guide them into creating vivid images of industrial architecture, representations of a variety of animal life, and objects. Their spilled appearance is highly controlled and painstakingly produced upon a mylar type ground that results in beautiful abstractions with translucent qualities. Imboden appropriates objects and redefines them by constructing sculptures that tend defeat the original purpose. His spheres of saw blades is a classic example of his ability to remove the material object intended role and create a sculpture of beautiful mathematics, symmetry and contradiction. His resin sculptures of militaria take deadly devices and diffuses them with candy colors which result in disarming happy feel-good visual experiences.  This show is not to be missed! Gallery hours Thursdays 12=5 pm and by appointment.
